We recently noticed that AOL changed the way that AIM profiles are stored and handled. As a result, we have had to disable profile-setting through aimOnPsp. Here's why:
It used to be that your AIM profile was stored locally (e.g. on your computer) and then sent to AIM when you signed on. If you ever signed on from a different computer, you wouldn't have your original profile. We added profile support to aimOnPsp back when that was the case, allowing you to have a profile on your PSP.
However, AOL recently changed this, instead opting for a single "global" profile that is stored on their server. This means that your profile is the same from any computer (or PSP) you use to sign on. Therefore, when you set your profile from aimOnPsp, it would permanently overwrite your "global" AIM profile. That's not cool.
So we decided to temporarily disable the ability to set your AIM profile through aimOnPsp. You'll notice that your aimOnPsp profile is still there on the settings page, but it is no longer actually used. We didn't delete anyone's aimOnPsp profiles in case we can find a workaround to this issue in the future.
I know I personally liked being able to set a PSP-specific profile, so I can assure you we'll keep looking for a way to re-implement this feature.

u know whats funny....i havnt evn ben able to use this service yet! my screenname wont fit in the box.... BUT... it still sucks that its shutdown
